Desert King Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus)
A favorite for gardeners in hot, dry climates! Desert King is a drought- and sunburn-resistant heirloom producing juicy, 20-pound fruit with sweet yellow flesh and a bright, light green skin. Ripe fruit holds on the vine for 3-4 weeks and stores well after harvest. Reliable and easy to grow.

- Direct sow ½-1” deep in full sun after last frost or start indoors 3-4 weeks prior to last frost. Harden off seedlings before planting. Watermelon roots prefer not to be disturbed; direct sow is suggested if possible.
- Sow seeds 6” apart. Space plants 18” apart in rows 6-8’ apart.
