Florida Giant Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus)
Developed by Florida seed expert Melville Dillon in the 1940s, this massive melon can reach weights of over 50 lbs. One of the most popular large watermelons, the Florida giant has a dark green rind and firm, delicious red flesh.

- Germination: 5-10 days
- Maturity: 80-85 days
- Direct sow ½-1” deep in full sun after last frost or start indoors 3-4 weeks prior to last frost. Harden off seedlings before planting. Watermelon seedlings prefer not to be disturbed; direct sow is suggested.
- Sow seeds 6” apart. Space plants 18” apart in rows 6-8’ apart.
