Mayflower Pole Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)
Some believe this bespeckled, squarish heirloom was carried across the pond by Pilgrims while others posit it is native to the Americas. Regardless of its origin, Mayflower is an especially lovely, flavorful dried bean also delicious as a green bean when harvested young.
- 40 seeds minimum
- Germination: 7-10 days
- Maturity: 100 days
- Direct sow 1-1 ½” deep in full sun after danger of frost has passed. Beans need soil temperatures between 75-85° F to sprout.
- Space plants 3-6” apart; space row 2-3’ apart.
