Bhut Jolokia/Ghost Pepper (Capsicum chinense)
An extremely popular, fiery pepper used in countless recipes from confections to hot sauce. Bhut Jolokia’s Scoville readings surpass 1,000,000 units which is why its seeds should be handled with gloves. Plants reaching 4’ tall are loaded with 2-3” peppers.
- 25 seeds minimum
- Germination: 21-28 days
- Maturity: 100-120 days from transplant
- Start indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost. Plant 1/4" deep in seed starting mix. Requires soil temperatures of 65-90F to germinate. Heat mat is recommended. Keep soil moist.
- Transplant in full sun when all danger of frost has passed. Bottom leaves should be just above ground level.
- Space plants 14-18” apart; space rows 2-4' apart.
