Shepherd’s Purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) Annual
With high concentrations of sulforaphane, Shepherd’s Purse is valued for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. A member of the Brassicaceae family, the edible leaves of this hardy herb have a spicy, mustard flavor. Single stocks with small top branches yield white flowers that form purse-like seeds pods. Plants reach 2’ tall.

- Maturity: 60-70 days
- After last frost, scatter seeds in full sun and cover lightly.
- Prefers drier, well-drained soil once seedlings are established.
- Space plants 8-10” apart; space rows 18-24” apart.
