I direct sowed in late spring, and promptly had a full bed of tasty little florets. I got distracted and it started flowering at one point, but after trimming, the florets came back month after month. Didn't seem to be harmed by the occasional aphid family.
I grew this broccoli last season with great success here in Zone 8A - it gets hot here early but I was able to get a Spring crop and have some that is actually producing now in February that I just direct sowed late last year. This is a super hardy broccoli in my opinion and has a great flavor raw or cooked.
