40 days. The hardiest of the winter salad greens, Claytonia has heart-shaped leaves around a white-colored stem. It can tolerate moderate frost and can be grown all winter in mild regions or in cold greenhouses.

Direct seed in the spring or in mid-summer. Prefers partial sun. Thin to 2-4 inches. Keep the soil moist. Can be overwintered if planted late in fall.

I grow claytonia in my cold frames in NJ and they add a wonderful snap to our salads all winter and fall. A great shot of freshness during the cold drab days of winter. Very easy to grow and little/no maintenance required
