110 day. An old European favorite dating back to the 1800’s, Carentan Leek has large stalks and delicious flavor. It is a cold hardy variety and is good for fall and winter production.
Minimum of 250 seeds per packet.
Planting Depth: 1/8 inch
Plant Spacing: 4-6 inches
Start indoors 8 weeks before last frost. Sow up to 100 seeds in a 4-6 inch pot. To transplant, separate out the small, grass-like seedlings by rolling them around in your fingers gently. Trim tops to 4 inches and roots to 2 inches. Place in a deep trench on their sides, 4-6 inches apart. Cover the roots and then water. Seedlings are very tough and transplant well. When the seedlings are established, continue to fill the trench to blanch the stems of the leeks.

This was my first time growing leeks, and they did great! No problems with any pests or rot - I harvest a lot of them throughout the fall, and I have left some in the ground - they should overwinter so I can eat some more in early spring.
