Pansies were first introduced in the 1800's by the Vilmorin Company.  They are such a cheerful start and end to the season, with their beautiful little faces.  All pansies are hybrids, but they have been around for generations are a much loved part of the garden.  Pansies are also edible, making them a fun addition to your spring or fall salads.
